R <br /> BACKWATER VALVE AUTHORI7.ATION <br /> 1. Pertnission lo Inspect. The Owner grants pemiission to the City and its contraclor to <br /> inspect the plumbing and dreinage of the Owner's property fcr the purpose of gathering <br /> infortnation regarding whcther a backwater valve should be installed. The City and <br /> O�mer wili cooperate to detertnine a mutually agreenble time for the inspection. The <br /> inspection is at lhe City's sole cost. <br /> 2. Backwater Valvc. <br /> A. C�Review of'Insoection and Permission to Inst�ll Backwater Vplve. The Ciry <br /> a�ill review thc residts of the inspection and •,vill determine whether a back�vater <br /> valve should be installed. By signing this authoriza�ion, the Owner grants the <br /> City and its contractor permission to install the backwater valve if the City <br /> delermincs that a backwaler valve should be installed. This installation is at the <br /> Ciry's sole cost. <br /> D. Other Devices. There may be other devices that provide as good as (or greater) <br /> protection than a backwater valve. By signing this authorization, the Owner <br /> grants the City and its contractor permission to install the other device if Ihe City <br /> detcrmines that it should be installed. This installation is at the City's sole cost. <br /> HuH•ever, if the Owner desires installalion of the other device, but the City has <br /> derertnined to only install a backwater valve, then the Owner may install the other <br /> device, and the City will reimburse the Owner up to the installation cost of the <br /> backwater valvc. <br /> C. Future Maintenance. Upon installation, the backwater valee or other device is the <br /> Owner's propeny. 'Ihe Owner is exclusively responsible to meintain it. <br /> 3. Olhcr Rec�mmended lmorovements. After the complction of the inspection, Ihe City <br /> may providc the Owner with a list of other recommended improvements to the property's <br /> plumbing and drain8ge systems.
