_ l � <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 3236 . <br /> AN ORDINANCE regulating the sale, distribution and delivery <br /> of gasoline and other inflammable liquids in garages, service stations <br /> and other places of business having gasoline or other inflammable <br /> liquids for sale to the public. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Commissionersof the City of Everett have <br /> determined that the sale and distribution of gasoline and other in- <br /> flammable liquids by means of self-service stations is eminently <br /> dangerous and constitutes unnecessary fire hazards, and that the only <br /> safe method of selling and dispensing of gasoline and inflammable <br /> liquids is to require delivery to be made by the owner, operator or <br /> regularly authorized employee of such garage, service station, or <br /> other dispensary of gasoline or other inflammable liquids, rather than <br /> permit individuals to serve themselves, which may include minors <br /> incompetent persons, and persons not cognizant of the potential <br /> dangers inherent in aelivery of inflammable liquids. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: It shall be unlawful for the owner or operator <br /> of any garage, gasoline service station, or other dispensary of <br /> gasoline or inflammable liquids, selling or disposing of gasoline or <br /> other inflammable liquids to the public, to permit the delivery or <br /> dispensing of such gasoline or other inflammable liquids into the <br /> fuel tank of a motor vehicle or into any other container except by <br /> the owner, operator or regularly authorized employee of such garage, <br /> gasoline service station or other dispensary. <br /> Section 2: Inflammable liquids as defined in this <br /> ordinance shall include: <br /> All liquids with a flashpoint below twenty-five (25°) <br /> degrees Fahrenheit (closed cup tester) , which shall include all <br /> gasoline used for the propultion of motor vehicles. <br /> Section 3: Any person who violates or fails to comply <br /> with any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed <br /> guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be <br /> punished by a fine of not more than One hundred (0100.00) Dollars <br /> or by imprisonment of not more than thirty (30) days. <br /> . �• <br /> mayor <br /> Attest; <br /> lerk <br /> Passed: 1,arch 15th, 1949 . <br /> Published: tr 16i r , 1949 . <br />
