PUBLIC WORKS
November 13, 2013
Rob Nilson
4216 Terrace Avenue
Everett, WA 98201
Re: Backwater Valve Installation at 4216 Terrace Avenue
Dear Mr. Nilson:
The City's contractor, Steve's Plumbing, inspected your plumbing and drainage on October
10, 2013 to determine if a backwater valve is appropriate for your property. Their findings
indicate that installing a backwater valve would be beneficial. Please review the enclosed
report.
Previously, you signed the Backwater Valve Authorization Form authorizing the City to install
a backwater valve at your property. Based on the inspection report, we are proceeding with
the installation. The City's contractor, Archer Construction, will be contacting you in late
November to schedule the work. This will require some excavation on your property.
The City will provide you on-site training on the operation and maintenance of the backwater
valve. Maintenance of the valve and the plumbing, sewer, and drainage on your property are
your responsibility. These systems are your responsibility to maintain. The City is not
responsible for future sewer or storm damages that may result from improper maintenance
of, or deficiencies within, your private plumbing and drainage system.
If you have any questions about this process, please contact Grant Moen at 425-257-8947 or
gmoen©everettwa.gov, or Brian Doolan at 425-257-8828 or bdoolan©everettwa.gov. Thank
you for your interest in our backwater valve program.
Sincerely,
Mark Sadler
Maintenance Superintendent
Everett Public Works
CITY OF EVERETT• 3200 Cedar Street• Everett, WA 98201 • (425)257-8800 • Fax (425)257-8882
