PUBLIC WORKS March 9, 2011 David Floyd 7604 NE 142nd St Bothell, Washington 98011 Re: Plumbing Investigation at 805 Waverly Avenue, Everett for Backwater Valve Program Dear Mr. Floyd: The City of Everett's contractor, Seattle Drain Services, inspected the plumbing and drainage at your property on December 7, 2010, to determine if a backwater valve is appropriate for your residence. Enclosed is a summary of their findings. The report recommends the installation of a backwater valve on the private side sewer that connects your home to the City's sewer main to reduce the risk of basement flooding from sewer backups. Please review the report and contact us with any questions. The next step is for you to confirm that you want to proceed with the program. To do that, please call Grant Moen at (425) 257-8947 and confirm your desire to have the City coordinate and fund the installation of a backwater valve on your side sewer. After receiving your authorization, we will hire a contractor to install the backwater valve in accordance with the installation and maintenance agreement documents you previously signed. If you choose to proceed, the contractor will contact you to schedule the installation. However, this is still a few weeks away. At the conclusion of the work, the excavation will be refilled and hardened surfaces (driveways and/or sidewalks) will be restored. You will also be provided on-site training on the operation and maintenance of the valve. Restoration of grass, plants and landscaping are your responsibility. The report also identifies deficiencies in your plumbing, sewer and drainage system. This includes: • Down spouts at front of house are connected to a clogged and broken drain line and will not convey water away from house during high flow storm events. • No accessible cleanout for future maintenance.
