Depth of side sewer 10ft from house: 9' 4"
Depth of side sewer at proposed B/W valve installation area: 8' 5"
Any additional comments:
• Half of house downspout lines are already disconnected (preferred).
Problems Identified
1) House side sewer is not protected by a backwater valve. During sewer surcharge
events sewer flows could back up out of below ground fixtures.
Solution: Install backwater valve at location specified on attached sewer and drainage
sketch.
2) Area drain at bottom of stairs to basement is tied to downspouts. Drain will back
up with sewage if backwater valve is installed and valve is closed during a
surcharge event. Drain is outside of house.
}
•
4
0
•
Area drain at bottom of stairs
Solution A: The installation of the Backwater Valve will protect this area from sewerage
surcharges.
Solution B: Install sump pump that drains to yard to help clear the excess water that
could pool up during a surcharge event.
1/11/2011
