Wood:
The City's contrzctor, Steve's Plumbing, inspected your plumbing and drainage on October B, 2013 to
determine if a backwater valve is appropriate for your property. Their findings indicate that replacing
the existing backwater valve on yo;:r property would be beneficlal. Please review the enclosed report.
Previously, you signed the Backvater Valve Authcrization Form authorizing the City to install a
backHater valve at your property. This will require some excavation on your property.
The Ciry will provide you on-site training on the operation and maintenance of the backwater valve.
Maintenance of the valve and the plumbing, sewer, and drainage on your property are your
responsibility. Tlie inspection identified additlonal site drainage and plumbing deficiencies in your
private dralnage and plumbing system and possible solutions. Thse include:
• Remove the debris and restrictions to tlie drain line within the house
• Disconnecting downspouts from the side sewer would reduce flow (n the side sever
• Rellne or replace a portion aF the slde sewer to correct sagging or breaks
• Additlonal work could be mmpleted to seal eerior walls (wm groundvater intrusion
These de(iciencies are your responsibility to zddress, as you desire. The Ciry is not responslble for
future sewer or storm damages that may result from fmproper malntenance of, or deficiencies within,
your private plumbing and drainage system.
If you have any questions about this process, please contacf Grant Moen at 425-257-8997 or
gmoen@everettwa.gov, or Brian Doolan at 425-257-8828 or bdooln(ceverettwa.4ov_.
