Section 22: It is the purpose of this Ordinance to fix <br /> the number and description of the permanent assistants, deputies <br /> and employees in the various offices of the City of Everett , and <br /> nothing herein contained shall be construed so as to prevent the <br /> various officers and various heads of the Department of the City of <br /> Everett from employing, with the consent of the City Council, such <br /> additional employees, as , from time to time , may be necessary in <br /> the proper discharge of the duties of such officers, or from dis- <br /> continuing such temporary employees when the necessity therefor <br /> has ceased to exist. <br /> Section 23 : The appointment of all employees in all <br /> Departments, where required by the City Charter, shall be made <br /> subject to Civil Service regulations of the City of Everett ; PRO- <br /> VIDED , in event vacancies occur and there is no eligibility list <br /> from which said vacancy may be filled, temporary appointment may <br /> be made of persons without Civil Service standing. <br /> The assistant Uity Attorney and the Stenographer in the <br /> City Attorney Department shall be appointed by the City Attorney. <br /> The City Clerk shall be ex officio Secretary of the Civil <br /> Service Commission. <br /> The Assistant and Special Examiners in the Civil Service <br /> Department shall be appointed by the Civil Service Commission. <br /> The Clerk of the Police Court Department shall be appoint- <br /> ed by the Police Justice. <br /> The officers, assistants and employees in the Department of <br /> Finance shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Finance. <br /> The officers , assistants and employees of the Department of <br /> Safety shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Safety. <br /> The officers, assistants and employees in the Department of <br /> Public Works shall be appointed by the Commissioner of Public Works. <br /> Section 24: That on and after the 1st day of January, <br /> 1949, the salaries and compensations to oe paid to the officers, <br /> assistants, deputies and employees of the City of Everett shall be <br /> as in this Ordinance provided. <br /> Section 25 : CITY ATTORNEY DEPARTMENT. <br /> City Attorney 3$0.00 per mo. <br /> Assistant City Attorney (part time) 135.00 per mo. <br /> Stenographer 175.00 per mo. <br /> Relief Stenographer (part time) 120.00 per yr. <br /> Section 26: CITY HALL DEPARTMENT. <br /> Janitor 245.00 per mo. <br /> Assistant Janitor 235.00 per mo. <br /> - 6 <br />
