CONTACT PERSON: Trudy Soriano <br />Tourism Promotion Area Coordinator <br />TELEPHONE NUMBER: (425) 388-6603 <br />PROJECT: Sorticulture <br />AMOUNT: $12,500 <br />FUND SOURCE: 116.501094105205 <br />CONTRACT DURATION: Contract execution through Dec. 31, 2022 <br />AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES <br />THIS AGREEMENT (the "Agreement") is made by and between SNOHOMISH <br />COUNTY, a political subdivision of the State of Washington (the "County"), and the City of <br />Everett, a Washington public agency (the "Contractor"). <br />Recitals <br />WHEREAS, by Section 1 of Resolution No. 79-335, adopted November 5, 1979 (and <br />codified as SCC 4.40.010), the legislative body of the County levied a special excise tax on the <br />sale of or charge made for the furnishing of lodging by a hotel, rooming house, tourist court, motel, <br />trailer camp, and the granting of any similar license to use real property, as distinguished from the <br />renting or leasing of real property; and <br />WHEREAS, by Section 1 of Resolution No. 79-335, as subsequently amended (and <br />codified as SCC 4.40.050(1)), the legislative body of the County created a fund known as the <br />"hotel/motel tax fund"; and <br />WHEREAS, by Section 2 of Ordinance No. 87-062, adopted August 12, 1987 (codified as <br />SCC 4.40.060), the County Council specified that the hotel -motel tax fund shall be used to support <br />projects or purposes authorized under chapter 67.28 RCW; and <br />WHEREAS, chapter 67.28 RCW permits the distribution of money from the hotel -motel <br />tax fund for tourism promotion, defined by RCW 67.28.180(2) (h)(ii) as "activities intended to <br />HOTEL -MOTEL TAX FUND AGREEMENT <br />WITH CITY OF EVERETT Page 1 of 13 <br />
