116.1 <br /> EVERETT <br /> WASHINGTON <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 7776 <br /> A RESOLUTION reducing the speed limit along SR 99 (Evergreen Way and SE/SW Everett Mall <br /> Way) between Airport Rd and 7th Ave SE. <br /> WHEREAS, <br /> A. RCW 46.61.415 and WAC 308-330-270 grant the City Council the authority to alter speed limits <br /> by resolution; and <br /> B. The City Traffic Engineer has conducted an engineering study of SR 99 (Evergreen Way and <br /> SE/SW Everett Mall Way) between MP 52.57 (Airport Rd) and MP 54.55 (7th Ave SE), the findings <br /> of which are that the current speed limits are greater than is reasonable and safe, and the <br /> recommendations of which are to set a 40 mph speed limit along SR-99 (Evergreen Way) <br /> between MP 52.76 (Airport Rd) and MP 53.43 (SW Everett Mall Way) and a 35 mph speed limit <br /> along SR 99 (SE/SW Everett Mall Way) between MP 53.43 (Evergreen Way) and MP 54.55 (7th <br /> Ave SE); and <br /> C. The Washington State Department of Transportation, (WSDOT), has at the City's request, <br /> conducted an engineering and traffic investigation of the speed limit along SR 99 in this area. <br /> The findings and recommendations of the WSDOT review concur with the City Traffic Engineer's <br /> findings; and <br /> D. The City Transportation Advisory Committee has reviewed the staff recommendations and <br /> recommends that the speed limit change be authorized. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: <br /> 1. The speed limit on SR 99 (Evergreen Way), MP 52.76 (Airport Rd)to MP 53.43 (SW Everett Mall <br /> Way), be set at 40 mph; and <br /> 2. The speed limit on SR 99 (SE/SW Everett Wall Way), MP 53.43 (Evergreen Way) to MP 54.55 (7th <br /> Ave SE), be set at 35 mph; and <br /> 3. The City Traffic Engineer shall order and install such signs, markings, and devices as are <br /> necessary to affect this change. <br />
