• <br /> • t • <br /> (b) No person shall operate a bicycle unless it is <br /> equipped with a bell or other device capable of giving a signal <br /> audible for a distance of at least 100 feet, except that a bicycle <br /> shall not be equipped with nor shall any persons use upon a <br /> bicycle any siren or whistle. <br /> (c) Every bicycle shall be equipped with a brake <br /> which will enable the operator to make the braked wheel skid on dry, <br /> level, clean pavement. <br /> Section 21: PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY It shall be unlawful <br /> for any parent of any child and any guardian of any ward to permit <br /> any child or ward to violate any of the provisions of this ordinance. <br /> Section 22: SCOPE OF ORDINANCE All of the provisions as <br /> set forth in this ordinance shall be applicable to bicycles operating <br /> upon any street or upon any public path or upon any public property. <br /> Section 23: PENALTIES Every person convicted of a violation <br /> of any provision of this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of <br /> not more than y100.00 or imprisonment of not more than fifteen (15) <br /> days or by the removal and the detention of the license plates of <br /> such person 's bicycle for a period not to exceed 100 days, or by <br /> the impounding of such person's bicycle for a period not to exceed <br /> 100 days, or by any combination thereof. <br /> Section 24: IMPOUNDING OF BICYCLES BELONGING TO JUVENILES <br /> That in event the person charged with the violation of any of the <br /> provisions of this ordinance shall be a minor, then and in that <br /> event the chief of police shall have the authority to impound the <br /> bicycle belonging to or being used by the person charged with the <br /> violation of this ordinance until such time as the juvenile court <br /> shall either remand the case for prosecution or shall otherwise <br /> dispose of the case. <br /> Section 25: EFFECTIVE DATE This ordinance shall take effect <br /> upon its passage and publication as provided by law, except that <br /> the requirement for the license shall not take effect until July <br /> 1, 1948. <br /> -`--4—.-(-04 • <br /> Mayor <br /> Attest: ,� <br /> ,"( <br /> ,/ <br /> ' Cit Clerk <br /> Passed: March 16th, 1948 . <br /> Published: " 17th , 1948 <br /> -4- <br />
