Of that total $124,724 would be the
federal share and $41,574 would be the 25% match required by the grant. The
matching funds would come from the Vessel Registration funds.
Project summary statement:
The primary vessel that the Everett Police Department and Everett Fire Department uses
to respond to incidents on the water is a 33-foot Safeboat purchased in 2009 with Port
Security Grant funding. With the age and continued usage of this vessel the motors and
electronics have become worn and unreliable. The Everett Police Dept. is asking to
apply for grant funding to replace the three (3) outboard motors and upgrade the
electronics, including the FLIR camera, marine displays, AIS and associated needed
electronics. These upgrades would allow the Everett Police and Fire Departments to
continue to use this vessel and reduce the down time of the vessel due to the increased
maintenance requirements.
Recommendation (exact action requested of Council):
Authorize city staff to apply for and if awarded authorize the Mayor to sign all necessary
documents and agreements with the Department of Homeland Security regarding the
application, acceptance, and utilization of the Port Security Grant Program FY 2022 in
the amount of $166,298.
