S
CITY OF EVERETT
EVERETT Permit Services
WASHINGTON
December 20,2019
Owner: Riddell
Job Address: 932 E Marine View Dr.
Plan Check No: BW1911-003
RE: Building Permit Review Letter
Dear Mr.Riddell,
In response to the application for a building permit, the plans have been examined and you are advised that
revisions are necessary before a permit can be issued. Please review and respond to the comments below.
1. Please provide the size, species and grade of all framing lumber used to construct the proposed
deck, including but not limited to,deck joists, beams, decking, posts. Specify the material used to
construct the guard.
Please note that the reference to the"Proposed Deck"means the deck that you are applying for a
permit. We review the plans as if you were going to build a new deck. With that in mind we are not
necessarily looking for a set of"As Built"drawings, but a set of drawings that reflects how the deck
structure will meet the minimum requirements of the building code.
2. Provide details of the deck ledger attachment to the structure including an elevation drawing
showing the spacing and the minimum clearance requirements for placement of all mechanical
connectors. Please refer to Figure R507.2.1(1)of the 2015 International Residential Code(IRC).
3. The"Typical Post Bolted to Deck"detail on sheet A-3 shows the decking installed parallel to the deck
joists and calls out"Solid Blocking Min 4"when joists are Perpendicular to Decking".Please clarify
the intent of this detail and note.
4. Where positive connection to the primary building structure cannot be verified during inspection,
decks shall be self supporting(IRC R507.1).
Please be advised that the"Typical Ledger Connection"detail on sheet S-1,shows an HDU2
connector for the required lateral connections. This would require the removal of a portion of the
interior finished ceiling for installation and inspection.
5. Sheet A-3 and a separate sheet that is not numbered both have a front elevation and a right
elevation drawing of the exterior of the building. The elevation drawings are different from one
Page 1 of 2
