.. <br /> ORDINANCE NO. <br /> 3142 . <br /> AN ORDINANCE authorizing certain officers and inspectors <br /> of the City of Everett to inspect buildings and structures; making <br /> it unlawful for any person to prohibit or interfere with certain <br /> officers and inspectors of the City of Everett from making inspec- <br /> tions in compliance with the ordinances of the City of Everett ; <br /> providing for Penalties for violation thereof; and declaring an <br /> emergency. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: The Building Inspector, the Fire Marshal , <br /> the Fire Chief, the Health Officer, the Electrical Inspector, the <br /> Plumbing Inspector, the Milk Inspector , the Meat Inspector, of <br /> the City of Everett, so far as may be necessary for the performance <br /> of their duties , shall have the right to enter any new and/or un- <br /> occupied buildings and/or any buildings under construction, repair, <br /> alteration or removal , and/or any buildings or structures alleged <br /> to be unsafe or a menace to life and limb, and/or any building or <br /> dwelling required to be inspected under the ordinances of the City <br /> of Everett, upon presentation of their credentials showing their <br /> authority. <br /> Section 2 : It shall be unlawful for any person, <br /> owner or occupant of any building , structure or dwelling to prohibit , <br /> refuse entry or prevent or interfere with any officer or inspector <br /> named in Paragraph 1 from inspecting any building, structure or <br /> dwelling in compliance with this ordinance. <br /> Section 3 : Any person violating any of the provisions <br /> hereof shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction there- <br /> of shall be punished by a fine not to exceed Three Hundred. Dollars <br /> (4000.00) or imprisonment in the City Jail for a period not to <br /> exceed Ninety (90) days , or both such fine and imprisonment. <br /> Section 4: An emergency is declared to exist for <br /> the reason that several of the ordinances of the City of Everett <br /> providing for the inspection of premises do not clearly and speci- <br /> fically set forth that interference with the inspectors in the <br /> discharge of their duties shall constitute a violation of such <br /> ordinances , and in order to maintain proper safety it is necessary <br /> that this ordinance take effect immediately upon its passage and <br /> publication. <br /> ----- --e— i-414 <br /> . ,r,-- <br /> Mayor <br /> Attest: <br /> 'City Clerk <br /> Passed: August 12th, 1947. <br /> Published: August l ►th , 1947. <br />
