I <br /> City of Everett 01 35 44 - 1 <br /> Police Firing Range Bullet Trap Replacement <br /> SECTION 01 35 44 - HAZARDOUS MATERIALS PROCEDURES <br /> PART 1 -GENERAL <br /> 1 <br /> 1.1 SUMMARY <br /> A. Section Includes: Hazardous materials abatement, Under the Work of this Contract, <br /> including proper Lead remediation, transportation and proper disposal of construction <br /> waste materials removed from the existing bullet trap and surrounding areas <br /> B. Removal and replacement of the existing bullet trap and target systems for the Everett <br /> Police Firing Range. Compliance with current federal, state and local health and safety <br /> regulations for construction, Under the Work of the Contract. Other than methods used <br /> to minimize the creation of dust, prompt cleanup and employer compliance with current <br /> regulations to reduce the potential for worker exposure to potential hazardous <br /> materials, no abatement has been scheduled for the Police Firing Range. It is <br /> assumed that all surfaces are coated with some level of lead dust/fragments. Full <br /> cleanup/abatement of bullet fragments and lead dust is required as part of this <br /> contract. <br /> C. All remediation work shall be in conformance with Authorities Having Jurisdiction and <br /> as directed by the Owner and coordinated with other construction activities at the work <br /> site as specified in the Work of this Contract. <br /> D. Off-Limit Areas: Do not allow unauthorized personnel to enter areas marked by <br /> "Danger Asbestos Hazard" and other required warning labels and signage. <br /> 1.2 LEAD REMEDIATION <br /> 111 <br /> A. The Owner has not conducted a lead survey. <br /> 1. It is assumed that all components of the existing firing range have lead dust <br /> present. <br /> B. Conduct lead hazard clean up prior to any work activities. <br /> C. Conform to Authorities Having Jurisdiction for regulations, laws, and ordinances for <br /> controlled removal, handling, storage, disposal, and using initial monitoring and <br /> required personal protective equipment for worker protection. This includes taking <br /> measures to: <br /> 1. Contain bullet particulates as required to prevent them from becoming airborne <br /> and escaping the work area into the environment. <br /> 2.
