SNOHOMISH COUNTY
IF.EP lire
2320 California Street • Everett,WA • 98201 • (206) 258-8211
PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 1 Mailing Address: P.O. Box 1107 • Everett,WA• 98206-1107
July 5, 1995
Ken Howe
City of Everett
3200 Cedar Street
Everett, WA 98201
Dear Ken Howe:
In regards to your question regarding the Fire Marshals' requirements for the Butterfield
Group B water system, the Snohomish County Fire Ordinance states R-3 dwellings(single
family or duplex) with a lot size of 20,000 square feet,or greater, are exempt from
providing hydrants and fire flows. The North Snohomish County Coordinated Water
System Plan (CWSP) states that areas with a Comprehensive Land Use Designation of
Rural (1 dwelling unit/2.3 to 10 acres) are exempt from Fire Flows. The Snohomish/Lake
Stevens Area Comprehensive Land Use Designation for parcels 362906-1-008-0009,
362906-1-011-0004 and 362906-1-00-0003 is R-5 (Rural 5 acres). The District abides by
the CWSP so we would not require fire flow for single family dwellings in a R-5
designated area.
If you have any questions please call me at 258-8602,or Mark Spahr at 258-8601 if I am
unavailable.
Sincerely,
Barbara Smith
Assoc. Water Engineer
Enclosures:
Fire Ordinance Chapter 16.36
North Snohomish County Coordinated Water System Plan (excerpt)
A provider of quality water, power and service at a competitive price that customers value.
