32 I Port of Everett—South Terminal Wharf&Electrical Upgrades—Phase 2
The purpose of our observations is to verify compliance with design concepts and recommendations, and
to allow design changes or evaluation of appropriate construction methods in the event that subsurface
conditions differ from those anticipated prior to the start of construction.Consequently,we recommend
that Hart Crowser be retained to provide the following construction support services:
• Review construction submittals from the contractor related to geotechnical aspects of the project to
verify compliance with the construction plans and the recommendations of this report.
• Observe the installation of new piles to confirm conformance with the geotechnical design
recommendations and the construction plans.
• Monitor and test utility trench backfill.
• Monitor and test pavement subgrade, crushed rock base, and asphalt.
• Provide assistance with any other geotechnical considerations that may arise during the course of
construction.
REFERENCES
ASCE 2010.
