PROJECT AND SITE CONDITIONS
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This report presents the results of our 2007 subsurface exploration performed for the Trinity
Lutheran College project which included two borings located within the proposed Imagine
Children's Museum Building Addition footprint. Our geotechnical engineering
recommendations are based on observations gained during completion of the 2007 subsurface
exploration borings referenced in this report, and a site plan provided to us by the project
architect dated March 4, 2019. The site location is shown on the "Vicinity Map", Figure 1. The
approximate exploration locations applicable to this development are shown on the "Site and
Exploration Plan," Figure 2. This report has been revised to reflect changes to recommended
foundation bearing pressures required for proposed building loading conditions.
1.1 Purpose and Scope
The purpose of this study was to review subsurface data to be utilized in the design and
development of the current building addition project. Our study included a review of selected
available geologic literature, reviewing data gathered during drilling of two exploration borings
in 2007, and performing geologic studies to assess the type, thickness, distribution, and
physical properties of the subsurface sediments and shallow groundwater. Engineering studies
were completed to formulate recommendations regarding site grading, the type of suitable
foundations, allowable foundation soil bearing pressures, anticipated settlements, floor
support, and drainage. This report summarizes our 2007 fieldwork and offers development
recommendations based on our present understanding of the project.
1.2 Authorization
Our study was accomplished in general accordance with our scope of work letter dated March
11, 2019. We were authorized to proceed by means of a signed copy of our scope of work
letter. This report has been prepared for the exclusive use of 2812 Architecture and their
agents for specific application to this project. Within the limitations of scope, schedule, and
budget, our services have been performed in accordance with generally accepted geotechnical
engineering and engineering geology practices in effect in this area at the time our report was
prepared. No other warranty, express or implied, is made.
2.0 PROJECT AND SITE DESCRIPTION
This report was completed with an understanding of the project based on review of a current
"Site Plan," Sheet A1.1, by 2812 Architecture, dated March 4, 2019. The site plan provides the
basis for Figure 2, attached.
March 28,2019;Revised April 16,2019 ASSOCIATED EARTH SCIENCES,IN /
SGB/Id-190104E001-3-Projects\20190104\KE\WP - Page
