Project funding is provided <br />by Fund 336 — Water & Sewer System Improvements Fund. <br />Project summary statement: <br />Staff recommends that a professional services agreement with Carollo Engineers Inc. be <br />entered into for the engineering analysis and pre -design of a combined conveyance <br />pipeline project. <br />Currently during storm events, peak wet weather flows into the Water Pollution Control <br />Facility are directed away from the South Plant and are conveyed directly to the Aerator <br />Cell Ponds. This action can disturb the solids collection within the Aerator Cell Ponds and <br />wash them into the Oxidation Ponds <br />This project will construct a bypass pipeline that will reroute the peak wet weather flows <br />directly to the Oxidation Ponds. The project will include the construction of a new <br />junction chamber along with the construction of a new pipeline from this new junction <br />chamber to the Recirculation Channel. This project will also help facilitate the future <br />nutrient removal upgrades that are foreseen as necessary to meet future treatment <br />requirements. <br />Recommendation (exact action requested of Council): <br />Authorize the Mayor to sign the Professional Services Agreement with Carollo Engineers <br />Inc. for the WPCF Combined Conveyance Improvement project in the amount not to <br />exceed $98,854. <br />
