Subsurfoce Erploraion and
Proposed 7-Elrven Properry Ceorechnical Engineering Report
Everett, Washingmn Pro/rcr und Site Condlrionr
not be reached. This material was interpreted as lodgement till. The lodgement till sediments
wre deposited at the base of an ice sheet, whirh filled the Puget Lowland more than 12,000
years ago. The ice sheet was several thousand feet thick, which resulted in the till being a
compact soil possessing high strength, low compressibiliry, and low permeability
chazacteristics. The lodgement till extended below the termination depth of the explorations.
This material would provide suitable foundation support for the project.
4.2 Hvdroloy
Minor to moderate ground water scepages were observed in all the explorations at the time of
our study in January 2001. The seepage elevations varied but were typically observed on top
of the dense lodgement till or fill sediments. One of the seepage zones in EP-3 was observed
within a sand lense within the lodgement till material. The seepages were interpreted to
represent a perched wndition. Perched water is formed when water infiltrates through
permeable sediments and becomes vapped or perched atop a less permeable material such as
the lodgement till or dense, fine-grained fill soil. It should be noted that fluctuations in the
level and amount of ground water may occur due to the time of the year, variations in the
amount of precipitation, and changes in site development. Additional ground water seepages
could also be encountered at random locations and depths within tle existing fill soil.
A9arch 19, 2001 ASSOGATED ERTN SClENCES
srsrr ,,, . eFcasr.Ut . n: nvru u - u:n Page 5
R{
