EXHIBIT A <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Service Provider shall assist the City Attorney's Office in matters pertaining to tort claims <br /> against the City. Service Provider will be expected to provide emergency service at any time to <br /> investigate an occurrence which may have liability implications for the City. City of Everett <br /> emergency claims shall take priority. Such duties shall include the following: <br /> • Receive notice of and create files on each claim submitted to Service Provider by <br /> the City Attorney's Office and maintain these files for the City. Each claim file shall be <br /> maintained on a current basis to reflect summary of investigation, witness names and addresses, <br /> liabilities,exposure, and recommended disposition; <br /> • Investigate all claims submitted by the City Attorney's Office to determine <br /> liability and estimated settlement value; <br /> • Request timely payments of claims, in accordance with settlement and payment <br /> procedures as established by the City Attomey's Office. The City will be solely responsible for <br /> providing payment as may be required for any claims assessed against it; <br /> • Prepare documentation and defense of cases,and assist assigned legal counsel in <br /> preparation of cases for litigation; and <br /> • Maintain and provide the City pertinent data on all claims payments. <br />
