I am concerned about the use of Roundup on city properties.
Specifically page 16, 2.9 on using Roundup. There has been many lawsuits over its use. One forced them to set aside
$4.5 billion, $11 billion, $16 billion and more.
Monsanto has settled 100,000 claims that they paid out $11 billion on lawsuits alone (as of May 2022). There's 30,000
cases pending. They'd rather give people cancer and gamble on lawsuits, while they're rake in the money.
The US Supreme Court recently rejected a multi -billion appeal from Bayer, refusing to shield the company from potentially
100 of thousands claims that Roundup cased cancer
While Roundup is still being sold, I would not want the worker OR anyone around it to get cancer because of its use. Let
alone the city's insurance paying for lawsuits. There's many more examples of lawsuits. And yes there's examples stating
it does no harm. Would you really want to take the chance on someone's life.
It reminds me of Tobacco companies claiming tobacco didn't cause cancer. They also set aside large amounts of money
for lawsuits. They lost bigtime and paid out astronomical amounts of money (while appealing awards they still made it
worthwhile to continue selling).
1
