Concerns of Paula Townsell, Everett District-3 Resident - Redistricting Process Oct. 26, 2022, Pg 6
b. The Redistricting Commission failed to hold any public hearing.
City Charter 2 1(c) was ignored by the Redistricting Commission. "At least one public forum shall be
held in each then -existing District, and at least one public hearing shall be conducted on a citywide
basis.
c. City Council was provided inaccurate information/guidance for the adoption vote for the final
redistricting plan. Although advised and reiterated on October 12th and October 19th that Council's job
is simply to adopt the map as created, in accordance with City Charter Article 2. Section 2 1. Factually,
adoption by City Council is only enacted after successful completion of the Redistricting Commission
process. Councilmembers must rely on staff, legal counsel, residents and others for the truth so you
may then vote in good conscience knowing due diligence was observed in all parts of the process. City
Council is has now been presented with substantive factual information, which is sourced from City
data, for a requested reconsidersation.
