Therefore, it is our opinion that the site is not prone to landslides if the recommendations in this report are fully implemented and observed during and following completion of construction. Seismic Hazard • • The Puget Sound region is in.an active seismic zone. The site is underlain at shallow depth by medium-dense to dense, Esperance sand deposits. These deposits are of moderately-high to high shear strength and high permeability. Therefore, the project site is not prone to seismic hazards, such as liquefaction, landslides and lateral soil spreading. • The proposed buildings, however, should be designed for seismic forces induced by strong earthquakes. Based on the soil conditions encountered by the test pits, it is our opinion that Seismic Use Group I and Site Class D should be used in the seismic design - of the proposed residences in accordance -with-the-20-12 International Building Code (IBC). DISCUSSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS General Based on the subsurface conditions encountered by the three test borings drilled on the • project site, it is our opinion that the site is suitable for the proposed development, provided that the recommendations in this report are fully implemented and observed during and following completion of construction.
