Upon roll call it was found that Mayor
Stephanson, Council Members Roberts, Moore, Hatloe, Gipson, Nielsen,
Stonecipher and Affholter were present.
Council Member Roberts led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the January 4, 2012 city council meeting were approved.
MAYOR
Mayor Stephanson reported that he visited Olympia to share the City's
legislative priorities with State legislators on January 10th, and remarked
that there would likely be issues on which Council's advice would be
sought in "real time" during the 60-day session. He thanked Pat McClain,
Government Affairs Director, for organizing the agenda and schedule, as
well as Council Member Roberts for attending with them.
CITY COUNCIL
Council Member Roberts thanked the Mayor for a great job representing
the City's agenda in Olympia, and Pat McClain as well, and remarked that
he is proud of the regional transportation package the City is supporting.
Council President Gipson requested a report regarding banning the use of
plastic bags. Debra Bryant, CAO/CFO, indicated that staff will bring
information back to Council.
