Narrative:
These calculations are for the PGB Gantry Foundation project in Boeing's 40-58 Building
in Everett, WA. Calculations are based on the2015 IBC,ASCE 7-10, ACI 318, and AISC
14th Edition. The Scope of these calculations focuses on the gantry foundation design,
trench cover plate, gantry column anchorage reinforcement and existing vault roof check.
The proposed gantry system is a bridge style floor mounted gantry system. It is
anticipated that the gantry will have multiple bridges spanning between two rails. Rails
are spaced roughly 115' apart from each other, each rail is supported on (22) columns.
Typical column spacing is 21'-9"with a reduced spacing of 6'-6" occurring at two
locations along each rail. The gantry structure is being designed by Coffman Engineers.
Coffman has provided Harris Group with design loads as the basis of the foundation
design. The foundation design includes an overturning check, soil bearing pressure
check, foundation reinforcement design, and anchorage reinforcement design.
The south PGB gantry foundation will have a 4'-0" wide concrete utility trench.
Calculations have been provided for the steel plate coving this trench. These plates have
been designed for HS-20 loading. Utilities will feed into this trench from an adjacent
tunnel. This tunnel will need to be penetrated at key locations. The tunnel was previously
designed by BRPH. The BRPH drawings outline an allowable penetration size and
spacing along the tunnel wall. The contractor will follow these allowances.
The south eastern portion of the south foundation will span over an existing cast in place
concrete utility vault. Harris Group has identified that the vault lid may become over
stressed with the design weight of the gantry and the foundation. Harris Group has
designed a mid-span column support for this vault lid.
Table of Contents:
1 Narrative and TOC
F1 - F16 Foundation Design
VL1 -VL9 Vault Lid Column
AR1 - AR26 Anchor Reinforcement
PL1 - PL14 Pour Length
TP1 -TP14 Trench Plate
TITLE: Narrative and TOC BY: AMW PROJECT No.:
DATE: 2/12/20 12630.09
Boeing 40-58 CHECKED BY: PAGE:
Harris Group PROJECT BY: 1
PGB Gantry Foundation
DATE:
ram EXCEL CALC-New Logo.xlsx i
2i '
