The device was tested by the management on August 1. 2020 and <br /> found to be in working condition. It is the resident's responsibility to test the device at least every six months, maintain the <br /> smoke detector in proper operating condition, and replace the batteries as needed. YOUR FAILURE TO MAINTAIN THE <br /> SMOKE DETECTION DEVICE, INCLUDING THE REPLACEMENT OF BATTERIES WHEN REQUIRED FOR ITS PROPER <br /> OPERATION, IS PUNISHABLE UNDER WASHINGTON LAW WITH FINES UP TO $200. You will not remove or tamper <br /> with a properly working smoke detector, including removing any working batteries. <br /> TESTING ALARM <br /> Test by pushing button on cover. This will sound alarm if all electronic circuitry, horn and battery are working. If no alarm <br /> sounds,the unit has a defective battery or other failure.You can also test alarm by blowing smoke into it. <br /> HUSH FEATURE <br /> If the smoke alarm has a hush feature, you can silence alarm by pushing hush button on cover and holding for three <br /> seconds. <br /> BATTERY REPLACEMENT(where applicable) <br /> If the smoke alarm is powered by a 10 year battery, it may not last for 10 years. The smoke detector has a low battery <br /> indicator which will "chirp" at 30 second intervals for a minimum of 7 days. Replace battery when chirping occurs. If <br /> equipped with a 10 year battery, replace only with a 10 year battery. If the smoke alarm is electric with battery backup, use <br /> Mallory MN1604 or Eveready 552 9 volt alkaline battery or equivalent sold at most drug, department, hardware or electronic <br /> parts stores.
