CIP3 Funding is available in <br />2023 for this project. <br />Project summary statement: <br />This funding Ordinance will allocate CIP3 dollars for the continued partnership with <br />Forterra on the city's 20-year forest restoration plan. The City and Forterra will focus on <br />forest restoration activity in urban -forested areas within Everett under the management <br />of the Parks and Facilities Department including, but not limited to, work in Thornton A. <br />Sullivan Park, Howarth Park, Hannabrook Park, South Everett Forest Preserve, Rotary <br />Park, Forest Park, Johnston -Kelly Park, and Madison -Morgan Park. Total compensation <br />is not to exceed $58,500. <br />The intended outcome is to help preserve publicly owned urban forests in term of <br />health, functionality, the public benefits urban forests provide, and long-term ecological <br />sustainability. <br />Recommendation (exact action requested of Council): <br />Adopt an Ordinance creating a special improvement project entitled "Forterra <br />Restoration Plan," fund 354, program 083, for the continued implementation of a <br />restoration plan for several publicly owned urban forested areas within the City of <br />Everett. <br />
