I
INTERWEST-EVERETT CONTRACTOR'S YARD SITE IMPROVEMENTS
ISANITARY SEWER PUMP CALCULATIONS
1.0 PROJECT SUMMARY
This project proposes the construction of truck scales, a scale house, a wheel wash, asphalt paving,
landscaping, sanitary sewer service, domestic water service, and power service. A new sanitary sewer
I pumping station will serve the proposed scale house, due to the relatively flat nature of the site,together
with the elevation of the existing pressurized City sewer main within the adjacent right-of-way. Based on
the calculations and assumptions outlined herein, an E-One Pump Station Model DX152 will sufficiently
serve the proposed scale house.
2.0 PEAK FLOW FROM BUILDING
The proposed sanitary sewer pump station will need to pump (at a minimum) the anticipated peak flow
from the scale house.
Scale House:
IQ = (d * CAP) * PF
Where:
Q = design flow (gpd)
I d = average daydemand (gpppd) = 20 gpppd
9
CAP = expected instantaneous capacity = 10 people
PF = peaking factor = 4.0
For design flow:
Q = (20 * 10) * 4.0 = 200 * 4.0 = 800 gpd
For total daily flow:
I 800 gallons
x 1 hour
Q _ 8 hour day 60 minutes 1 6 gpm
Given the pressure in the main at the point of connection is 22 psil, the proposed E-One Pump station
will pump at a rate of 12.0 gpm.Therefore, the proposed pump station will adequately serve the
proposed building.
I
I
I
1 Based on email correspondence with Amie Roshak, P.E.with the City of Everett,the operating pressure is in the range of 15-
22 psi.The design conservatively assumes the upper limit.
