DEFINITION OF CITY COUNCIL <br />The City Council is the legislative body of <br />our city. <br />The Council represents city residents in <br />establishing both policy and legislative <br />direction to the administrative branch of <br />city government for current and future <br />needs. <br />The seven nonpartisan Council members <br />are elected at-large for four-year terms <br />which are staggered (three positions <br />contested in one odd-year election cycle, <br />four in the next). <br />Council members promote the economic <br />growth and vitality of the City through <br />involvement in local, state and national <br />boards and organizations. <br />As defined in the City of Everett Boards and <br />Commissions Handbook
