<br /> 30 <br />4. College Incentive. Employees who have completed their Firefighter probation are eligible for <br />College Incentive Pay. <br /> Fire-related Associate’s Degree: 1.5% of first class firefighter pay <br /> Bachelor’s Degree: 3% of first class firefighter pay <br /> <br />College incentive pay will be based on transcripts from accredited colleges or universities provided <br />by the employee. The HR Department will have final approval oversight of all transcripts. The <br />transcript and approval will be placed in each employee’s personnel file. <br /> <br />5. Civil Service Educational Incentive Points. Employees will receive the following points on Civil <br />Service promotional processes for Inspector, Assistant Fire Marshall, Medical Services Officer, <br />Captain, Battalion Chief and Division Chief: <br /> <br />2 points for completion of Level I Educational Matrix hours or <br />4 points for completion of Level I & Level II Educational Matrix hours <br />2 points for an accredited fire related Associate’s Degree or <br />4 points for an accredited Bachelor's Degree <br /> <br /> <br />6. Entry Level, Experienced and Lateral Firefighter Probationary Period <br /> <br />Entry Level, Experienced and Lateral Firefighters and Lateral Paramedics who begin City <br />employment prior to attending the fire academy will complete a 12 month probationary period that <br />begins on the first day of the academy that they graduate. Qualifications for Educational Incentive <br />under Article 20 of the contract will occur after the 12 month probationary period has been <br />completed. <br /> <br /> Regardless of their probationary duration and academy start date, all new employees will follow <br />the salary schedule steps in Article 9. <br /> <br />For promotional testing purposes, the minimum periods of time in service required to be <br />completed prior to being eligible to take promotional examinations will be based off the first day <br />of probation (not the employees actual date of hire). <br /> <br />Joint Apprenticeship Training Program and Joint Apprenticeship Training Program Committee (JATC). <br /> <br />Parties agree to the following: <br /> <br />1. To form a Local JATC Subcommittee with equal representatives from labor and management. <br />The purpose of the committee is to establish and manage the Everett Fire Department’s JATC <br />within the confines of the rules and requirements of the Washington State Firefighters JATC <br />Program. <br /> <br />2. To require as a condition of employment that all new uniformed employees participate in and <br />successfully complete the requirements of the JATC program, achieving Journeyman status <br />within the prescribed 3-year apprenticeship program timeline. If due to approved extenuating <br />circumstances (e.g., extended disability), the apprentice is unable to complete the apprenticeship <br />program within the established timelines, he/she shall be granted an appropriate extension of the <br />timeline to complete the program, relative to the time missed due to extenuating circumstances. <br />Willful failure to complete the requirement of the JATC program shall be grounds for discipline <br />up to and including termination.
