Deicing products can be conveyed during storm events to inlets/catch <br /> Ibasins or to receiving waters after application. Leaks and spills of these products can also occur dur- <br /> ing their handling and storage. Equipment and processes using during maintenance can contribute <br /> pollutants such as oil and grease, suspended solids,turbidity, high pH,and metals. <br /> IPollutant Control Approach:Apply good housekeeping practices, preventative maintenance, <br /> properly train employees,and use materials that cause less adverse effects on the environment. <br /> I Applicable BMPs: <br /> IDeicing and Anti-Icing Operations <br /> . Adhere to manufacturer's guidelines and industry standards of use and application. <br /> I . Store and transfer de and anti-icing materials on impervious containment pads,or an equi- <br /> valent spill/leak containment area in accordance with S429 BMPs for Storage or Transfer <br /> I (Outside)of Solid Raw Materials, Byproducts, or Finished Products. <br /> • Sweep/clean up accumulated de and anti-icing materials and grit from roads as soon as pos- <br /> sible after the road surface clears. <br /> I .
