GEOTECHNICAL RECOMMENDATIONS <br />THE FOLLOWING NOTES HAVE BEEN REFERENCED FROM THE REPORT TITLED <br />GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING REPORT QFC 852 FUEL STATION DATED JANUARY 7, <br />2020, CONDUCTED BY THE RILEY GROUP, INC. REFER TO THE COMPLETE REPORT <br />FOR ALL EARTHWORK REQUIREMENTS. <br />glum, <br />THE SITE IS <br />UNDERLAIN <br />BY UP TO FIVE FEET <br />OF VERY LOOSE FILL COMPRISED OF <br />SILTY SAND <br />WITH TRACE <br />GRAVEL OVER NATIVE <br />DEPOSITS OF MEDIUM DENSE TO VERY <br />DENSE SILTY <br />SAND WITH <br />TRACE GRAVEL, AND <br />SAND WITH VARYING AMOUNT OF SILT <br />AND GRAVEL <br />UP TO 20 <br />FEET. <br />SELTE -EREPARAT- __- LO N. <br />STRIPPING EFFORTS SHOULD INCLUDED REMOVAL OF PAVEMENTS, VEGETATION, <br />ORGANIC MATERIALS AND DELETERIOUS DEBRIS FROM AREAS SLATED FOR BUILDING, <br />PAVEMENT AND UTILITY CONSTRUCTION. <br />THE RILEY GROUP, INC. ANTICIPATED THAT SOME AREAS OF LOOSE SOIL MAY BE <br />PRESENT ON THE SITE AFTER STRIPPING. THEREFORE, ITS IS RECOMMEND THAT THE <br />BUILDING, PAVEMENT, AND OTHER AREAS TO RECEIVE STRUCTURAL AREAS ARE <br />PROOFROLLED AND COMPACTED. SOILS SHOULD BE COMPACTED TO ACHIEVE A <br />MINIMUM COMPACTION LEVEL OF 95 PERCENT OF THE MODIFIED PROCTOR MAXIMUM <br />DRY DENSITY AS DETERMINED BY ASTM D1557 TEST METHOD. PROOFROLLING AND <br />ADEQUATE SUBGRADE COMPACTION CAN ONLY BE ACHIEVED WHEN THE SOILS ARE <br />WITHIN APPROXIMATELY :F 2 PERCENT MOISTURE CONTENT OF THE OPTIMUM <br />MOISTURE CONTENT. <br />SUBGRADE SOILS THAT BECOME DISTURBED DUE TO ELEVATED MOISTURE CONDITIONS <br />SHOULD BE OVEREXCAVATED TO REVEAL FIRM, NON -YIELDING, NON -ORGANIC SOILS <br />AND BACKFILLED WITH COMPACTED STRUCTURAL FILL. THE RILEY GROUP, INC. <br />RECOMMENDS THAT THE EARTHWORK PORTION OF THIS PROJECT BE COMPLETED <br />DURING EXTENDED PERIODS OF WARM AND DRY WEATHER IF POSSIBLE, <br />EXCAVATIONS AND FILL <br />FOR EXCAVATION MORE THAN 4 FEET BUT LESS THAN 20 FEET IN DEPTH, THE <br />TEMPORARY SIDE SLOPES SHOULD BE LAID BACK WITH A MINIMUM SLOPE <br />INCLINATION OF 1.5:1 (HORIZONTALVERTICAL), IF THERE IS INSUFFICIENT ROOM TO <br />COMPLETE THE EXCAVATIONS IN THIS MANNER, OR EXCAVATIONS GREATER THAN 20 <br />FEET IN DEPTH ARE PLANNED, TEMPORARY SHORING SHOULD BE USED. FOR OPEN <br />CUTS AT THE SITE THE RILEY GROUP, INC. RECOMMENDS THE FOLLOWING: <br />NO TRAFFIC, CONSTRUCTION EOUIPMENT, STOCKPILES OR BUILDING SUPPLIES <br />ARE ALLOWED AT THE TOP OF CUT SLOPES WITHIN A DISTANCE OF AT LEAST 5 <br />FEET FROM THE TOP OF THE CUT. <br />- EXPOSED SOIL ALONG THE SLOPE IS PROTECTED FROM SURFACE EROSION <br />USING WATERPROOF TARPS AND/OR PLASTIC SHEETING. <br />- CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES ARE SCHEDULED SO THAT THE LENGTH OF TIME THE <br />TEMPORARY CUT IS LEFT OPEN IS MINIMIZED <br />- SURFACE WATER IS DIVERTED AWAY FROM THE EXCAVATION <br />- THE GENERAL CONDITION OF SLOPES SHOULD BE OBSERVED PERIODICALLY BY <br />A GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER TO CONFIRM ADEQUATE STABILITY AND EROSION <br />CONTROL MEASURES. <br />THE RILEY GROUP, INC. RECOMMENDS FILL BELOW THE FOUNDATION AND FLOOR <br />SLAB, AND BELOW PAVEMENT AND HARDSCAPE SURFACES BE PLACED IN <br />ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING RECOMMENDATION FOR STRUCTURAL FILL. THE <br />SANDY NATIVE SOILS MAY BE SUITABLE FOR STRUCTURAL FILL IF THE MOISTURE CAN <br />BE PROPERLY CONTROLLED AT THE TIME OF COMPACTION IF THE CONSTRUCTION <br />CLEAN, <br />OCCURS IN DRY WEATHER. IF NOT, IT MAY BE NECESSARY TO IMPORT <br />GRANULAR SOILS THAT MEETS THE GRADING REQUIREMENT IN THE GEOTECHNICAL <br />REPORT, STRUCTURAL FILL MATERIALS SHOULD BE PLACED 1114 UNIFORM LOOSE <br />LAYERS NOT EXCEEDING 12 INCHES AND COMPACTED AS SPECIFIED IN THE <br />GEOTECHNICAL REPORT. <br />GROUNDWATER: <br />GROUNDWATER WAS NOT ENCOUNTERED DURING THE SUBSURFACE EXPORTATION,, IT <br />SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED THAT FLUCTUATION OF THE GROUNDWATER TABLE WILL <br />OCCUR DUE TO SEASONAL VARIATION. IN ADDITION, PERCHED WATER CAN DEVELOP <br />WITHIN SEAMS AND LAYERS CONTAINED IN FILL SOIL OR HIGHER PERMEABILITY SOILS <br />OVERLYING LESS PERMEABLE SOILS FOLLOWING PERIODS OF HEAVY OR PROLONGED <br />PRECIPITATION. <br />ACCESS113LE PATH OF TRAVEL NOTE - <br />WALKWAYS ALONG ACCESSIBLE ROUTES OF TRAVEL SHALL BE <br />CONTINUOUSLY ACCESSIBLE, BE A MINIMUM OF 44" IN WIDTH, HAVE <br />A MAXIMUM 2.0% CROSS SLOPE, AND SHALL HAVE RAMPS <br />COMPLYING WITH ACCESSIBILITY STANDARDS (SECTION 405) WHERE <br />NECESSARY TO CHANGE ELEVATION AT A LONGITUDINAL SLOPE <br />EXCEEDING 5% (1:20). <br />PROPERTY PROTECTION NOTE: <br />THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT AND PRESERVE FROM DAMAGE, INTERFERENCE AND <br />DESTRUCTION ALL.
