Section 2: That said Ordinance No. 2734, entitled <br /> as above set forth, be further amended by adding thereto a sectio' <br /> to be known as Section 19-1, which section shall reed as follows: <br /> Section 19-1: Pedestrians shall be subject to <br /> traffic control signals at street intersections and the <br /> directions of officers discharging the duty of directing <br /> traffic et street intersections. Where traffic control <br /> signals are not in place or in operation the operator of <br /> a vehicle shell yield the right of way, slowing down or <br /> stopping, if need be, to so yield to any pedestrian cross- <br /> ing the roadway within a marked crosswalk or within any <br /> unmarked crosswalk of any street intersection. Whenever <br /> any vehicle is stopped et a marked crosswalk or at any <br /> unmarked crosswalk at any street intersection to permit <br /> a pedestrian to cross the roadway the operator of any <br /> other vehicle approaching from the rear shall not over- <br /> take and pass such stopped vehicle. Between adjacent <br /> street intersections at which traffic control signals are <br /> in operation and in business districts it shall be unlawful <br /> for pedestrians to cross the roadway. Pedestrians crossing <br /> a roadway other than at street intersection crosswalks <br /> shell yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the <br /> roadway. Notwithstanding the provisions of this section, <br /> every operator of a vehicle shall exercise due care to <br /> avoid colliding with any pedestrian upon eny roadway and <br /> shall give warning by sounding the horn when necessary, <br /> end shall exercise all proper precautions upon observing <br /> any children or any confused or incapacitated person upon <br /> the roadway. <br /> Section 3: That said Ordinance No. 2734, entitled <br /> as above set forth, be further amended by adding thereto a section <br /> to be known as Section 19-2, which section shall read as follows: ; <br /> Section 19-2: (a ) Pedestrians shall not step into <br /> that portion of the street open to moving traffic at any <br /> point between street intersections in the Central Business <br /> District or any arterial highway, except to board or alight <br /> from a City Bus or public bus and except at marked cross- <br /> walks or other places specially provided. <br /> (b) Pedestrians shall not cross street intersections <br /> diagonally. <br /> (c ) Pedestrians shall move , whenever practicable , <br /> upon the right half of crosswalks . <br /> Section 4: That said Ordinance No. 2734, entitled <br /> as ebove set forth, be further amended by adding thereto a sectio ; <br /> to be known es Section 19-3, which section shell read as follows: <br /> Section 19-3: Pedestrians on any public highway where <br /> Adopted : a sidewalk is provided shall proceed upon such sidewalk. <br /> May 9th, 1944 .
