Sr <br /> WORDINANCE NO. 2281-98 <br /> AN ORDINANCE of the City of Everett calling for an election <br /> to submit an annexation proposal for the Eastmont area <br /> to the voters in the area proposed to be annexed. <br /> WHEREAS, on October 29, 1997, the City Council adopted Resolution No. <br /> 4504 calling for an election of the Eastmont area; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Boundary Review Board's jurisdiction was not invoked during <br /> the 45 day review period which expired on December 22, 1997; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Boundary Review Board sent a letter dated December 29, <br /> 1997, deeming the annexation approved and authorizing the City to proceed <br /> with the election; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the qualified voters of the Eastmont area <br /> should have an opportunity to vote on whether they desire to be annexed to <br /> Everett; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, the City of Everett does ordain: <br /> Section 1: A proposal was initiated by the City, pursuant to RCW 35.13.015, <br /> for the annexation by the election method of the Eastmont area <br /> described herein. As such, an election shall be submitted to the <br /> voters in the Eastmont area described herein upon the question of <br /> annexation. <br /> Section 2: The boundaries of the proposed annexation area are described in <br /> the attached map (Exhibit 1) and legal description (Exhibit 2) <br /> which are incorporated herein by this reference as if set forth in <br /> full. <br /> Section 3: The City of Everett will pay the cost of the annexation election. <br /> Section 4: The area to be annexed shall upon annexation be assessed and <br /> taxed at the same rate and on the same basis as property within <br /> the city, except for existing City indebtedness contracted prior to <br /> or existing at the date of annexation. <br /> Section 5: Upon annexation, zoning will be adopted for the annexation area <br /> in zoning categories consistent with the City's Comprehensive <br /> Plan and through zoning classifications which implement the <br /> Comprehensive Plan. <br />
