The project was completed at a total cost of $240,255.93. The Howarth Park Playground was purchased using the Purchasing Cooperative, in compliance with the City of Everett procurement requirements. The remaining balance of $39,744.07 will be transferred back to CIP-3. All expenses for the project have been paid and revenues collected. Project summary statement: Scheduled replacements to Parks playgrounds are necessary to keep them functional, enjoyable for customers, compliant with new standards, and to minimize maintenance costs. Playgrounds are typically replaced about every 15 years. The Howarth Park playground was built in 1987. The playground was designed for two age groups: 2 to 5 and 5 to 12 years old. It features inclusive play elements so people of all ages and abilities can access the play areas, participate and be challenged. Playground replacement work included demolition of the existing playground, removal of the engineered wood fiber surfacing system, installation of a new rubber tile surfacing system, new playground equipment and certification of the design and installation. The project was completed February 23, 2022. All work has been completed to the satisfaction of the Parks and Facilities Department.
