NIEHS Oil Spill Cleanup Training Tool <br />OSHA <br />, <br />COREXIT (Nalco) EC9527A <br />• COREXIT EC9527A contains between 30-60% of 2-butoxyethanol (solvent). <br />• 2-butoxyethanol is a clear, colorless liquid that smells somewhat like ether. <br />• 2-Butoxyethanol can be inhaled in your lungs or ingested through your <br />stomach and intestines when you eat food or drink water that contains the <br />chemical. <br />Exposure Limits: <br />• Effects —exposure of 100 ppm or more of 2-butoxyethanol vapors in air for <br />4 or 8 hours has caused irritation of the nose and eyes, headache, a metallic <br />taste, or vomiting. <br />• 2-Butoxyethanol (from 2-butoxyethanol or 2-butoxyethanol acetate <br />exposure) can be measured in blood and urine. <br />66 WORKER EDUCATION & TRAINING PROGRAM <br />
