11 f <br /> • <br /> Section 5: Every applicant for such driver' s licens: <br /> shall be referred by the City Clerk to the Chief of Police , <br /> whose duty it shall be to investigate such applicant end if satis <br /> fled with his qualifications, recommend in writing within a <br /> reasonable time that a license be issued to him, or if he is not <br /> satisfied with his c7ualific! tions so report to the City Council. <br /> If a license is issued pursuant hereto the City Clerk shell file <br /> one of the photographs referred to in the preceding section in <br /> the office of the Chief rof Police and attach the other to the <br /> license card so that it cannot be removed therefrom end another <br /> substituted without detection. 'ihe City Council of said City <br /> shall determine whether or not said applicant is entitled to <br /> such license and if it determines thEt such applicant is en- <br /> titled to a license it shall notify the City Clerk and he shall <br /> issue such license . Said license when issued shall be displayed <br /> in a prominent place while driving, operating or in charge of <br /> a taxicab or other automobile covered. by this ordinance, such <br /> display to make license visible to occupants of the vehicle. <br /> Section 6 : Each applicant shall pay to the City <br /> Health Officer a. fee of � 2.50 for medical examination, which fee <br /> shall be retained by the examining officer a s full compensa- <br /> tion of the examination; provided, however , that if laboratory <br /> fees are incurred in necessary analysis in connection with the <br /> examination such fee shall not be borne by the applicant. <br /> Section 7 : Each applicant sha 11 al so accompany his <br /> application with a certified check , or cash, said check being <br /> made payable to the City Treasurer, in the sun of 5.00 , which <br /> check , or cash, shall be returned to the applicant if no license <br /> shall be issued hereunder, otherwise DE id to the City Treasurer <br /> as an annual license fee . All licenses issued hereunder shall <br /> expire on the 31st day of December in each year unless previously <br /> revoked, the Power of revocation with or without cause being <br /> expressly reserved to the City Council; provided that any license <br /> issued hereunder in the year 1942 shall not expire until <br /> December 31, 1943. <br /> Section 6: Any licensee hereunder making applicatio <br /> for the issuance of sub seeuerLt license shall not be required to <br /> accompany the same with the certificate of the City Health <br /> Officer unless required so to do by the Chief of Police and the <br /> Chief of P l hereby expressly authorized and empowered <br /> re <br /> to order/any�apI scant or licensee to furnish such certificate <br /> or certificates relative to his physical or mental condition at <br /> any time he may deem advisable and the Chief of Police shall <br /> report the result of such examination to the City Council of <br /> Everett . <br /> Section 9: It shall be unlawful for any person, <br /> firm or corporation conducting or carrying on the business of <br /> operating taxicabs, for hire cars or sightseeing cars within <br /> the City of Everett to permit any person to drive , operate or <br /> be in charge of a taxicab , for hire car or sightseeing car <br /> unless such Person shall have obtained such license as herein <br /> provided. It shall be unlawful for any person to drive , operate <br /> or be in charge of such automobiles unless so licensed, or to <br /> operate any such automobile in violation of the terms of <br /> regulations provided for in this ordinance . <br />
