• • r_• r ORDINANCE No. AN ORDINANCE to regulate and restrict the location and use of buildings and the use of land within the City of Everett ; to limit the height of buildings; to prescribe building lines and the size of yards and other open spaces and for these purposes to divide the City into districts, and providing penalties for the violation of the provisions of this ordinance . THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: Section 1: This ordinance shall be known as "The Zon'ng Ordinance of the City of Everett." This ordinance shall consist of the text hereof and as well of that certain map or book of maps identified by the approv- ing signatures of the Hayor and City Clerk on the title page and marked and designe ted as "The lisps of the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Everett," which map or book is now on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Everett , and the contents of which maps are made a part hereof by this reference as though the same were set forth at length herein. Said book of maps, showing the zones of the various use end occupancy districts by symbols or colors, has been heretofore examined in detail by the City Council and is herebyadopted as a part of this ordinance . Said ordinance, and each and all of its terms, is to be read and inter- preted in the light of the contents of said book of maps. If any conflict between the map or book of maps and the text of this ordinance is deemed to arise, the text of the ordinance shall prevail. Section 2 : Definitions. For the purpose of this ordinance certain words end term... are defined as follows: Words used in the present tense include the future; word. in the singular number include the plural end words in the plural number include the singular number. ,lords not defined herein shall be construed a s defined in the Building Ordinances of the City of Everett if defined therein. (1) "A.ccessoiyUse or Building : " A subordinate use or building customarily incident to and located upon the same lot occupied by the ma in use or building . (2) "Alley": A vehicular right-of-way not over twenty- four feet wide. (3) "Apartment House": A building or portion thereof used or intended to be used as the holx of two ar more families or householders living independently of each other, end known also as multiple family dwellings. (4) "Attic Story" : Any story situated wholly or partly in the roof, so designated, arranged or built as to be used for business ,storage or habitation.
