The scope of our work consisted of exploring
site surface and subsurface conditions, and then developing this report to provide
recommendations for general earthwork and design criteria for foundations and retaining walls.
The subsurface conditions of the proposed building site were explored with four test pits that
encountered 1 to 4 feet of gravelly, silty sand fill overlying a layer of dense glacial till. It is our
opinion that the construction of the proposed apartment building can be supported on a
conventional foundation. We do not anticipate any unusual geotechnical considerations. The soils
are moisture sensitive and are difficult to grade during wet weather. The soils are typical for most
sites in the upland areas of the Puget Sound area.
The attached report contains a discussion of the study and our recommendations. Please contact
us if there are any questions regarding this report, or if we can be of further assistance during the
design and construction phases of this project.
Respectfully submitted,
GEOTECH CONSULTANTS, INC.
James R.
