t <br /> • <br /> ORDINAa.NCE No. <br /> 2945. <br /> AN ORDINANCE providing residential qualifications of <br /> permanent appointive officials or employees of the City of Everet, <br /> whether heretofore or hereafter appointed to such positions, <br /> except officials and employees of the Police Department of the <br /> City of Everett, and excepting any of such officials or employees <br /> of the City of Everett whose duties require then to reside out- <br /> side of the City of Everett ; providing residential qualification- <br /> for persons applying for positions under civil service in the Cit <br /> of Everett; providing that persons now holding permanent position- <br /> in the City of Everett who are not residents of the City of Evereit <br /> shall become residents of the City of Everett or else forfeit <br /> their positions unless they comply with the terms of this ordin- <br /> ance as provided for herein, and declaring an emergency. <br /> THE CITY OF EVTERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: That Ell persons applying for permanent <br /> positions in the City of Everett shall be residents of the City <br /> of Everett Et the time of said application end for a period of <br /> one year immediately preceding said application. <br /> Section 2: That all officials or employees of the <br /> City of Everett holding permanent positions in the City of Everet <br /> shall be residents of the City of Everett, end any person holding <br /> such Position who shall become a non-resident of the City of <br /> Everett shall forthwith upon becoming a non-resident forfeit his <br /> or her position with the City of Everett ; providing that any person <br /> now holding a permanent position in the City of Everett who is <br /> not a resident of the City of Everett shall within Tw (2) months <br /> after the taking effect of this ordinance become a resident of <br /> said City and any such person who fails so to do shall forthwith <br /> forfeit his or her position with the City of Everett. <br /> Section 3 : Excepted from the provisions of this <br /> ordinance are persons holding positions in the Water Department <br /> as \ ater Control Station Operators and Head ':,Yorks Operators <br /> cy reason of the fact that said officials are required by reason <br /> of their duties to be non-residents of the City of Everett; <br /> and provided further that any other official or employee of the <br /> said City shall be excepted from the provisions of this ordinanc; <br /> when the City Council of the City of Everett shall by resols is ution <br /> so provide because such employee by reason of <br /> re- <br /> quired his to oe a non-resident of the City of Everett , and in the <br /> event that special qualifications are required for any position <br /> covered by this ordinance and that there are not any or sufficie t <br /> persons resident of the City of Everett applying for such positi ,n <br /> or if for any other reason there are not any or sufficient <br /> applicants for any position covered <br /> byresthis <br /> ordinn ance <br /> y adopted <br /> the <br /> City <br /> Council of the City of Everett nay by <br /> exempt applicants for such position from the residential <br /> qualifications of this ordinance , and the numbers of the Police <br /> Department of. the City of Everett are excepted from the provisi o o s <br /> of this ordinance by reason of the fact that residential <br /> qualifications in the City of Everett for said employees are <br /> provided for in the City Charter of the City of Everett . <br /> Section 4: An emergency is declared to exist and <br /> this ordinance shaj 1 take effect upon its passage and publica- <br /> tion. /7 <br /> Attest: �Zayor <br /> Passed: une 9 1942 .City Clerk Published: 'Tune 1°, 1942 <br />
