• •
Drew Martin
From: Drew Martin
Sent: Monday, July 11, 2022 12:00 PM
To: edm@Imueller.com
Subject: City of Everett Permit Services: 1920 Merrill Creek Parkway(B2205-071) - First Building
Review
Hello, Ed.
I have reviewed the drawings and have a few comments. This email will serve as the review letter. Pending the
responses,we may be able to make redlines and attached sheets to the sets we already have. Please review and
provide responses electronically to me, and I will advise further.
Structural:
1. The drawings do not indicate consistently the new and existing racks. For example, Sheet TA1.1 shows the "P"
and "T" racks as new and existing, respectively, but Sheet TA1.2 shows them as existing and new,
respectively. Clarify the work shown in the drawings. See IBC Section 107.2.1.
2. A detail(s)should be provided for the new concrete slab foundations. The detail(s)should include dimensions
and reinforcement requirements. See IBC Sections 107.2.1 and 1603.1.
3. The following comments should be addressed for the rack anchorage:
a. Details should be included for the anchorage of the racks to the foundation slabs. See IBC Sections
107.2.1 and 1603.1.
b. Calculations substantiating the anchorage design should be submitted for review. The anchorage should
be based on minimum loads with R=4 per ASCE 7-16 Table 15.4-1. Anchorage should be designed for
concurrent tension and shear loading per ACI 318-14 Sections 17.2.3.4.3 and 17.2.3.5.3, including
overstrength. See IBC Sections 1613.1 and 1901.2, and ASCE 7-16 Sections 15.4.9.1 and 15.5.3.2.1.
Please let me know if you have questions. Thank you.
Drew Martin, P.E.,S.E.
LIAssociate Engineer—Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8810 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett,WA 98201
EVERETT Phone Hours: M/W/T: 8 am - 12 pm & 1 pm—3 pm;Tu: 1:00pm-3:O0pm
everettwa.gov/permits I Facebook I Twitter
Note:Emails and attachments sent to and from the City of Everett are public records and may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Public
Records Act.
1
