These comments are itemized with the original comments:
1. I can redline the plans to clarify new vs existing racks.
2. Please provide a foundation detail that I can attach to the drawings. It doesn't need any title block or other
framing. I'm going to tape it into the set. Preferably a reasonable scale (example- 1/4"), and forward so that it
will print at the correct scale.
3. I'm not clear how there is no uplift force. These are tall, heavy racks with a narrow base in at least one
direction. That usually results in some level of net uplift. I'll have to review the calculations again. If the
engineer has not yet included any overturning calculations using the required criteria (see comment below),this
should be submitted for review. Note that the ACI criteria requires the overstrength factor to be applied to the
seismic component prior to counteracting with the dead load (i.e., QE-D); a common mistake is applying the
overstrength factor to the net result which is not correct(i.e., NOT(E-D)0).
Drew Martin, P.E., S.E.
gmAssociate Engineer—Commercial Plans Examiner I Permit Services
425.257.8810 13200 Cedar Street, 2nd Floor, Everett,WA 98201
EVERETT Phone Hours: M/W/T: 8 am - 12 pm & 1 pm—3 pm;Tu: 1:00pm-3:00pm
everettwa.gov/permits I Facebook I Twitter
Note:Emails and attachments sent to and from the City of Everett are public records and may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Public
Records Act.
From: Ed Minshull<edm@Imueller.com>
Sent:Wednesday,July 20, 2022 6:43 AM
To: Drew Martin<dmartin@everettwa.gov>
Cc: Barry Chan<chan@mriconstructors.com>; Michael Frei<mike@facilityplanningservices.com>; 'Ryan Hoggatt'
<rhoggatt@umci.com>
Subject: RE: [EXTERNAL] RE: City of Everett Permit Services: 1920 Merrill Creek Parkway (B2205-071) -First Building
Review
Hi Drew,
I want to make sure you received this. The tenant would like to start fencing soon to secure their product when they
move into the building. Your help would be appreciated to get this phase permitted.
Thank you,
3
