CIT'r OF ETL'RE1T DOES ()PTV, T: Section 1: 1'�ra t a public emergency does exist and the amount of the expenditures therefor could not heve been reasonably foreseen et ahe time of making the budget for the year 1941, to-wi in October 1940, as provided in this ordinance . Section 2: That the ~proper r intenance and operation of the engineering department reciuired the purchase of a new truck in the sum of • >701.39. Section 3: That by reason of tile fact that witness fees in the police court department were in excess of the amount provided in the budget it is necessary to ap?ropriate the suns of 257.60 to pay said witness fees. Section 4: That by reason of increase in traffic in the City of Everett and the paving of additional streets the safety of the public required the expenditure of the sum of ,700.0' in excess of the amount appropriated therefor for paint sup lies and maintenance and operation. Section 5: ha- t reason of increased traffic and the necessity for special construction in the street department it was necessary to expend the sun of 12 ,000 .00 for maintenance, operation and special construction in said department . Section 6: '1ha t by reason of the fact that it was necessary to make additions and betterments to the Everett ',water System for the purpose of having an adequate supply of water for the City of Everett it was necessary to expend in the Water Depart- ment the sum of =?5,000.00 for salaries. That in anticipation of priority ratings that nay be provided or established by the United states Government it was deemed necessary to purchase and have on hand sup lies in the sun of ,15,00O.00 . Section 7: That there is hereby appropriated out of the current expense fund of Everett , not otherwise budgeted, for the purpose of paying the expenses above referred to , to-wit: 701.39 in the City Engineering Department ; :?257 .60 in the Police Court Department ; >700 .00 in the Street Painting Department ,
