Mr. Ross Jameson
2812 Architecture
Plan Check Number: C1802-019, Second Review (Structural)
September 26, 2018
24. This comment has not been completely addressed:
a. Detail 9/S4.3 has a continuous sheathing panel extending between and nailed to both
walls. The sheathing should be jointed similar to Details 3/S4.2 and 7/S4.2 to allow the
tear-away behavior to occur. The joint should be placed at the wall farthest from the
upper roof eve. See IBC Section 706.2.
b. Detail 9/S4.3 appears to indicate that both walls are shear walls. Sheet S2.4 indicates that
only one wall is a shear wall. The detail should be revised to provide a load path for both
roofs to the shear wall. See IBC Section 107.2.1.
This review has been performed for general compliance with the building codes as adopted and
amended by the state of Washington and the city of Everett. Corrections and comments made
during the review process do not relieve the project from compliance with code and permit
requirements. The designers-of-record are responsible for a complete design in accordance with
the laws of the state of Washington.
If you have any questions or require additional clarification, please contact us.
Respectfully,
Drew Martin, P.E., S.E.
Associate Engineer/ Commercial Plans Examiner
(425)257-8813
dmartin@everettwa.gov
S:\BMartin\2018\C1802-019.docx
Page 4 of
CITY OF EVERETT • 3200 Cedar Street • Everett, WA 98201 • (425) 257-8810 • Fax(425) 257-8857
