,gip -1 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2286-98 <br /> An Ordinance Rezoning the east side of the 1700 Block of East Marine View Drive <br /> from C-2 (Heavy Commercial-Light Industrial) to C-1 (General Commercial) <br /> as Part of the Annual Update to the Comprehensive Plan Initiated in 1997. <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Everett adopted a new Comprehensive Plan in August, 1994, in <br /> conformance with the Washington State Growth Management Act; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Growth Management Act, codified as RCW Chapter 36.70A, generally <br /> allows for comprehensive plans to be amended on an annual basis; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett initiated its third annual comprehensive plan amendment <br /> process in July, 1997, which included consideration of Land Use Map amendment and <br /> rezone applications initiated by private property owners; and <br /> WHEREAS, Gary Davis asked the Planning Commission to initiate an amendment to the <br /> Land Use Map of the 1700 block from"Light Industry"to "General Commercial" for the <br /> purpose of rezoning the area from C-2 (Heavy Commercial - Light Industry) to C-1 <br /> (General Commercial); and <br /> WHEREAS, the Planning Commission agreed to initiate consideration of the land use <br /> map amendment and rezone requested by Mr. Davis; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council held a Public Workshop on January 14, 1998, and a Public <br /> Hearing on January 21, 1998, to consider the recommendations of the Planning <br /> Commission concerning various amendments to the Land Use Map and the rezoning of <br /> specific properties as part of the 1997 Comprehensive Plan update process; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted Ordinance No. 2285-98 amending the land <br /> use designation of the Everett Comprehensive Plan for the east side of the 1700 block of <br /> East Marine View Drive to a designation of"Community Business," and <br /> WHEREAS, with regard to the properties located on the east side of East Marine View <br /> Drive, south of Hayes Street, the City Council finds: <br /> 1. The requested C-1 zoning is consistent with and implements the "Community <br /> Business" land use designation of the City's Growth Management Comprehensive <br /> Plan; <br />
