I'm also
asking you to vote YES for these badly needed measures. They will help empower our public officials
to bring back a safer and more hospitable downtown Everett.
I've lived in, owned property in, and or worked in downtown Everett since 2000. It has had its ups
and downs over the years. The past half decade has been a pretty steady slide down into what it has
become today. Almost every day I'm here, I see addicted people taking drugs out in the open. I see
them sleeping overnight out in the open and exposed to the elements. They go to the bathroom out
in the open and I and others get to pick it up. Letting them do this to themselves is not caring or
humane. My renters complain about their vehicles being broken into and people on the sidewalks
screaming in the night. A lot of them move when their leases expire because the downtown area
does not seem safe.
This state of chaos is bad for the addicted and the locals who live and work here. I've talked to many
people in the area and have not yet found one who is in agreement with what is going on at present.
Please show leadership and help bring back to Everett a safe and humane living and working
environment.
Thanks and best regards,
Joe
