The source of funds for the project is Capital Improvement Program 3 (CIP-3). The <br />project cost is estimated at $718,000. These costs include all construction activities, contingency, <br />tax, and all other costs associated with the project. This project is identified in the CIP-3 financial <br />model. Equipment procurement and installation will be through King County Directors <br />Association (KCDA) Cooperative. <br />Project summary statement: <br />In 2022, Wiggums Hollow Park, celebrated its 20 -year anniversary. The current playground was <br />added as a vital park amenity in 2002 and has since become one of the most used and beloved <br />playgrounds in Delta Neighborhood. At 7,600 square feet it is also one of the largest. <br />Scheduled replacement of Parks playgrounds are necessary to keep them functional and <br />enjoyable for the community, compliant with new standards, and to minimize maintenance <br />costs. Playground replacement work includes demolition of the existing playground, removal of <br />the engineered wood fiber surfacing system, construction of a new forever lawn surfacing <br />system, installation of the new playground equipment and certification of the design and <br />installation. <br />The work is planned to begin in the Fall of 2023 and take approximately eight months to <br />complete. <br />Recommendation (exact action requested of Council): <br />Adopt an Ordinance creating a special improvement project entitled "Wiggums Hollow <br />Playground Replacement", Fund 354, Program 081, to accumulate project costs in the amount of <br />$718,000. <br />
