The City's contribution of $118,361.88 is funded through Utilities Fund 401.
The quoted price of the generator is $280,152.00 + $27,735.05 (9.9% Washington state
sales tax) = $307,887.05.
City Procurement Policy requires Council authorization of awards greater than $250,000.
Project summary statement:
The City Public Works Department identified an urgent need for an emergency power
generator at Evergreen Pump Station. Evergreen Pump Station supplies water through
Reservoir 6 to high -elevation areas in Everett. An emergency power generator will allow
the city to continue providing drinking water to Everett residents during extended
periods of power outages.
Emergency generators are essential for both water and sewer facilities to avoid pressure
loss and health advisories related to treatment and water delivery, maintain critical
elements of the wastewater treatment plant, and prevent sewer overflows.
The generator is available for purchase from Cummins, Inc. through the Sourcewell
competitively bid contract #092222-CMM/COE #2023-035. The City has an interlocal
agreement with Sourcewell that allows for purchases from its competitively awarded
contracts in lieu of soliciting bids on our own.
Recommendation (exact action requested of Council):
Award and Authorize the Purchase of a Commercial Emergency Diesel Generator Set
from Cummins, Inc. using Sourcewell Contract #092222-CMM/COE #2023-035 for
$307,887.05 including Washington state sales tax.
