1 <br /> 2 <br /> 3 DIVISION2GR2 <br /> 4 Division 2 <br /> 5 Earthwork <br /> 6 <br /> 7 2-02.GR2 <br /> 8 Removal of Structures and Obstructions <br /> 9 <br /> 10 2-02.3.GR2 <br /> 11 Construction Requirements <br /> 12 <br /> 13 2-02.3(3).GR2 <br /> 14 Removal of Pavement, Sidewalks, Curbs, and Gutters <br /> 15 <br /> 16 GLF 2-02.3(3)A.DOCX <br /> 17 2-02.3(3) A Removal of Cement Concrete Sidewalks <br /> 18 (******) <br /> 19 <br /> 20 For removal purposes, all concrete slabs that average 4 inches or less in <br /> 21 thickness shall be considered as sidewalk removal. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Cement concrete sidewalk shall be removed by sawcutting at the nearest scribe <br /> 24 marks beyond the neat line limits subject to the following requirements: <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Removal shall be extended to a through joint or to the edge of the sidewalk if <br /> 27 within 4 feet of a neat line. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 The minimum width of new or remaining concrete walk shall be as follows: <br /> 30 <br /> 31 Two feet when sidewalk is or will be supported on each side by properly <br /> 32 placed concrete walk or other improvement that will prevent the <br /> 33 sidewalk from shifting. <br /> 34 <br /> 35 Four feet when sidewalk is or will be bounded by earth planting strip. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 The depth of saw cut shall be a minimum of 2 inches. Saw cuts shall leave <br /> 38 straight edges and vertical faces. No diagonal cuts in sidewalk will be allowed <br /> 39 unless otherwise indicated on the drawings or directed by the Engineer. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 A concrete walk that is to remain in place will be protected from equipment <br /> 42 damage. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 Where sidewalk adjacent to a sidewalk opening is in poor condition, removal <br /> 45 shall be extended to the nearest through joint or scribe mark as may be directed <br /> 46 by the Engineer. <br /> 47 <br /> 48 Pavement breakers shall be approved by the Engineer before use. <br /> 49 <br /> 50 Temporary asphalt concrete sidewalk shall be included in the bid item, <br /> 51 "Removing Sidewalk". <br /> 2023 PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE OVERLAY <br /> WO#3789 February 14,2023 39 <br />
