1 DIVISION5.GR5 <br /> 2 Division 5 <br /> 3 Surface Treatments and Pavements <br /> 4 <br /> 5 GLF 5-04.DOCX <br /> 6 5-04 Hot Mix Asphalt <br /> 7 (December 3, 2018 City of Everett based on APWA GSP) <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Delete Section 5-04 and amendments, Hot Mix Asphalt and replace it with the following: <br /> 10 <br /> 11 5-04.1 Description <br /> 12 This Work shall consist of providing and placing one or more layers of plant mixed hot <br /> 13 mix asphalt (HMA) on a prepared foundation or base in accordance with these <br /> 14 Specifications and the lines, grades, thicknesses, and typical cross-sections shown <br /> 15 in the Plans. The manufacture of HMA may include warm mix asphalt (WMA) processes <br /> 16 in accordance with these Specifications. WMA processes include organic additives, <br /> 17 chemical additives, and foaming. <br /> 18 <br /> 19 HMA shall be composed of asphalt binder and mineral materials as may be required, <br /> 20 mixed in the proportions specified to provide a homogeneous, stable, <br /> 21 and workable mixture. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 5-04.2 Materials <br /> 24 Materials shall meet the requirements of the following sections: <br /> 25 Asphalt Binder 9-02.1(4) <br /> 26 Cationic Emulsified Asphalt 9-02.1(6) <br /> 27 Anti-Stripping Additive 9-02.4 <br /> 28 HMA Additive 9-02.5 <br /> 29 Aggregates 9-03.8 <br /> 30 Recycled Asphalt Pavement 9-03.8(3)B <br /> 31 Mineral Filler 9-03.8(5) <br /> 32 Recycled Material 9-03.21 <br /> 33 Portland Cement 9-01 <br /> 34 Sand 9-03.1(2) <br /> 35 (As noted in 5-04.3(5)C for crack sealing) <br /> 36 Joint Sealant 9-04.2 <br /> 37 Foam Backer Rod 9-04.2(3)A <br /> 38 The Contract documents may establish that the various mineral materials required for <br /> 39 the manufacture of HMA will be furnished in whole or in part by the Contracting Agency. <br /> 40 If the documents do not establish the furnishing of any of these mineral materials by the <br /> 41 Contracting Agency, the Contractor shall be required to furnish such materials in the <br /> 42 amounts required for the designated mix.
